FIELD: cold rolling of metals from carbon and alloyed steels on multistand continuous rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: lubricant comprises, wt.%: non-ionic emulsifier, 5-7; synthetic C₁₆-C₂₂ fatty acids, 1-4; product of thermal treatment of synthetic C₁₀-C₂₀ fatty acids and vegetable oil with triethanol amine and diethanol amine, weight ratios thereof being as follows, 9- 11; 2-4; 6-8; 0.5-1.5, 10-25; ester of pentaerythrite and synthetic C₅-C₉ fatty acids, 10-20; and mineral oil, the balance. Lubricant is useful as 1.5-% aqueous emulsions. EFFECT: improved lubricating, bactericidal and anticorrosion properties, and lower specific consumption of lubricant per 1 t of steel. 3 tbl
