FIELD: preparation of binders and detergents, more particularly preparation of soluble hydrated sodium or potassium silicate powders by using drying aqueous solutions of silicates (liquid glass) in superhigh frequency electromagnetic field. SUBSTANCE: hydrated sodium or potassium silicate powders have wide application in various fields ranging from building materials to cosmetic agents. Method comprises maintaining original aqueous solution of sodium or potassium silicate in superhigh frequency electromagnetic field and subsequently crushing the resulting product. Time t for maintaining solution necessary to prepare dry product with preset content of hydrate water (moisture content) is determined by formula: wherein wherein M is weight of silicate solution, kg; ωs is moisture content of silicate solution, fraction; P is output power of superhigh frequency setup, W; ω is content of hydrate water in dried material, fraction; n is module of silicate solution. Invention makes it possible to determine rather accurately time for drying alkali metal silicate solutions in particular superhigh frequency furnace with any module from 1 to 3.5. This time is necessary to prepare product with preset content of hydrate water (water content) from real values ranging from initial moisture content ωs to ultimate value of about 0.12. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 1 dwg, 1 ex, 1 tbl
