WEDGE DEFLECTING TOOL Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: drilling technology, equipment cutting windows in casing strings. SUBSTANCE: member of supporting point of deflecting tool is fabricated in the form of solid piston held in body of supporting point in initial position by shear pin. Inclined surfaces of member of supporting point are made in the form of protrusions corresponding to grooves of spreading members (dies). Closed space coupled to high-pressure hose with the aid of side hole in guiding wedge is located in lower part of wedge. Working surface of wedge has shape of chute made on side of upper die. Body of supporting point has additional radial hole to ensure pressure drop of liquid in chamber formed by movement of solid piston relative to wedge which is indicator of anchoring of wedge deflecting tool at required level in hole. Radial hole is located at distance determined by mathematical dependence from upper butt of piston. EFFECT: increased reliability of setting and fixing of deflecting tool at required level in hole. 2 dwg
