FIELD: production of abrasive tools. SUBSTANCE: binder for manufacture of abrasive members and tools on the base of mixture of carbonaceous gas pyrolysis products contains, wt %: fibrous carbon 0.1-99.5; pyrolyzed carbon the balance. Binder may contain, wt %: fibrous carbon 0.1-99.5; pyrolyzed carbon and diamond the balance. Binder components may be alloyed with boron, silicon, titanium, zirconium, hafnium, or mixture thereof. Method involves providing gas phase saturation of molded blanks made from carbonaceous gas pyrolysis products with solid carbonic deposits in the process of thermal cycling at temperature of 400-1,600 C under pressure of 0.0001-3,000 atm. According to method, high-temperature oxidation destruction of carbon in surface layer of blanks is provided. Method allows abrasive tools based on organic binder from agglomerated, monocrystalline and polycrystalline diamond powder and stillage boron nitride to be produced.
