FIELD: abrasives. SUBSTANCE: diamond- containing charge is molded into blanc, which is heat treated to form intermediate product containing diamond and ordinary carbon. Intermediate product is impregnated with molten alloy containing silicon and is impregnated with molten alloy containing silicon and one metal selected from group including: Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ag, Al. Material thus obtained contains diamond and metal carbide and/or silicide and/or silicon-metal alloy. Material may find use for manufacturing abrasive tools. EFFECT: enabled preparation of diamond-containing materials in the form of large-size irregularly shaped products with wide application area due to enabled choice of compositions for optimal erosion and abrasive resistances. 10 cl
