FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed engine can be used as mechanical energy source in machines and mechanisms of road, water and air vehicles, to drive different industrial and household consumers and as pump or compressor. Cylinder liner is installed in engine housing. Cylinder covers are found at end faces. Piston is made in form of cylindrical tubular member whose end face parts are sealed over outer and inner surfaces by means of ring sealing members. Piston engages with transfer mechanisms by means of curvilinear closed continuous uninterrupted groove (slot) on its side surface. Transfer mechanisms installed in engine housing have spherical or cylindrical bodies of revolution. Engine output shaft passes along cylinder axis through piston axis and working spaces found at both sides of piston. Shaft engages with engine piston through movable joint including antifriction or sliding bearings. Processes composing two- or four-stroke working cycle of piston heat machine take place in turn at both sides of engine piston so that piston moves providing useful work at working stroke in two directions making the engine double-action machine. Proposed invention provides decrease of friction and mechanical losses, increase of engine efficiency, reduction of dynamic load of main parts of internal combustion engine, improved power, performance, mass and dimensions, repair and ecology characteristics of engine.
