FIELD: excitation of seismic waves from boreholes. SUBSTANCE: borehole source has cable lead-in, controlled wedge clip, driving electric motor and force exciter. Force exciter comes in the form of chamber with windows in body which are shut over with the aid of ring gate, exciter is equipped with piston of reciprocating motion. Drive of travel of piston is manufactured in the form of lead screw connected via reduction gear and controlled clutch to shaft of electric motor. Windows are located in lower part of chamber. Spring- loaded gate is fixed with latch matched with armature of releasing electromagnet. Gas space is situated above piston on side opposite to working chamber. EFFECT: generation of high-power seismic pulses in direction of axis of borehole thanks to high pressure formed in controlled implosion chamber. 1 dwg
