FIELD: tunnel construction. SUBSTANCE: method includes installation of protective screens from tubes and excavation of rocks under protection of these screens, forcing of tubes, having teeth cut on their ends, parallel to tunnel axis from tunneling shield over tunnel perimeter with simultaneous periodic turning of them clockwise or counterclockwise or by rotation round axis. In tunneling in argillaceous grounds, prior to driving of tubes of protective screen, ground mass in unloaded ahead of face by boreholes sunk over tunnel contour. EFFECT: reduced cost of tunnel lining and increased rate of tunneling in soft grounds. 2 cl, 2 dwg
