METHOD OF COAL SEAMS EXTRACTION Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: mining, particularly, extraction and roof control in mining of flat seams. SUBSTANCE: method of extracting coal seams with unstable roof and use of auger shearer and powdered support includes separation of seam into two bands and extraction of bands by leading of breast of upper band, advance of support and taking up of upper band after passage of shearer. First, seam is extracted with leaving of stepped upper band with thicknesses m1 and m2, and subsequent shearing of thickness m1 equalling 0.1 thickness of extracted seam. Then, seam is extracted with formation of U-shaped upper band and L-shaped part of band is sheared. The latter two operations are repeated. In this case, width of U-shaped band is taken equal to 1.5 shearer bursting tool working width, width of recess is equal to one half of working width, and height of shelf of U-shaped band is taken equal to thickness of initially sheared band. EFFECT: higher quality of coal, excluded inrushes of coal with caved rocks, reduced amount of coal fines, excluded damage to shearer cutters by support capping. 7 dwg
