FIELD: electrical engineering; electrical equipment including load-lifting DC electromagnets. SUBSTANCE: field coil has several sections each wound of copper strip wrapped with insulating material so that the latter overlaps joints, impregnated with insulating varnish, and dried out. Sections are coaxially placed and their ends are covered with insulating compound, with insulating gaskets overall. Procedure is as follows: coil is made of several sections each being wound of copper strip, then they are impregnated and dried out. Section- to-section insulation is placed between butt ends. Sections are arranged coaxially and interconnected in series. Prior to winding copper strip is wrapped with one layer of insulating material overlapping the joints. Butt-end surface of first section is covered with insulating compound and with insulating gaskets whose edges are bent out to inner and outer diameters of first section. Next section is soldered to first one in series and its butt end is covered with insulating compound; then edges of second gasket are bent out to inner and outer diameters of second section; next sections are treated in same manner; upon assembly coil is bandaged and dried out.
