FIELD: polymer production. SUBSTANCE: invention provides polymers appropriate for long-time contact with living body tissues and fluids as well as with protein-containing solutions. Polymer is prepared by radical polymerization of (i) zwitterionic monomer having general formula Y-B-X (I) wherein Y, B, and X are defined in Claim 1; (ii) comonomer having a surface-linkable group and fluoroalkyl or siloxane group of general formula VII: (VII), or comonomer capable of being linked to comonomer of general formula VIIA: CH2= CR14-C(O)-A′-QQ (VIIA) or XII: Y2-B9-Q5 (XII), wherein all symbols are defined in Claim 1; said zwitterionic monomer and said comonomer being brought into radical polymerization at molar ratio between 5:95 and 95:5; and optionally (iii) monomer diluent of general formula VI: (VI) wherein R14 is hydrogen or methyl and Q is C8-C24-alkyl. Polymer has side groups ensuring center of constant positive charge and other side groups capable of reliably linking polymer to surface, which are fit to be treated in order to assume biocompatibility. Linking to surface can be provided by physical adsorption, covalent binding, or ionic interactions. In addition, reactive groups of polymer can serve as sites for binding ligands when coating surface. Described also are: method of preparing above-indicated polymer, coated surface, and method of coating surface. EFFECT: expanded polymer application possibilities. 30 cl, 1 tbl, 18 ex
