FIELD: cooling of liquid in cooling towers. SUBSTANCE: the cooling tower has an external envelope made massive from the foundation to the level of the water-distributing device of the peripheral zone of the cooling tower, with a sprinkler located under it; located between the central and peripheral zones of the cooling tower is a vertical impermeable partition in the form of a shaft; positioned in the upper part of the shaft is the upper horizontal deflecting shield with bent and slotted edges-dissectors of the film of moving water into drops, the central water-distributing device is positioned downwards in the shaft internal zone, or under its lower termination, and provided with injectors directed upwards and at an angle equal to 45 to 90 deg to the horizontal, and positioned on the whole internal surface of the shaft are deflecting shields similar to those in the upper part of the shaft at an angle equal to 90 to 135 deg. EFFECT: prevented freezing around of the inlet openings and sprinkler in winter, enhanced maneuverability of the cooling process, reduced noise of water falling into the pond. 3 dwg
