FIELD: processing sheet materials including sorting-out of sheets. SUBSTANCE: method involved acquisition of measurement data on sheet material parameters by means of sensor which uses these data to determine one or more measurement results. Sorting-out tree and sheet material parameter measurement results are used to define sorting grade of sheet material. Value area is specified in each sorting node of sorting-out tree for at least one measurement result. Measurement-result value areas are selected in sorting node so that they function either as value sub-areas or they are equal to value area of respective measurement result brought to consistency with sorting node of higher level. Sheet material is conveyed to respective point of destination depending on assigned sorting grade. EFFECT: improved processing of measurement results enabling high precision of defining sheet material sorting grade. 38 cl, 13 dwg
