FIELD: lubricants. SUBSTANCE: C16-C28-alpha-olefins are brought into reaction with sulfur at 130-150 C for 3 h in presence of 0.1 to 0.9 wt % (based on olefin) of catalysts: nomo-, di-, or triethanolamine. Content of sulfur in additives thus obtained is increased by 9-12 wt % and additives do not require additional removal of hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, and catalyst. EFFECT: improved antiscoring and antiwear properties as well as heat and oxidation resistance. 6 ex
