FIELD: machine engineering, namely systems for preventing overloads of forging presses, mainly crank presses. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes wedge mechanism, feelers and hydraulic transmission mechanism having two different-diameter plungers introducing the same cavity filled with high-viscosity liquid. Small-diameter plunger has on its end jointly mounted roller engaging after operation of safety apparatus with feeler and groove for receiving ball pressed by spring whose opposite end engages with first wedge of wedge mechanism. Second wedge of wedge mechanism is normal relative to axis of first one; on end of second wedge roller is jointly mounted and it engages with additional curvilinear feeler. Such apparatus may be used in crank presses, for example in sheet forming presses subjected to overloads when slide does not achieve lower limit position and it is spaced from it by value more than nominal one.
