FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: structural unit is used as column in buildings and structures with chemical hostile environments, supports of overpasses, posts of power transmission lines. Structural unit has iron ring made of oriented glass-fiber material with transversal glass fibers. Modulus of elasticity of glass-fiber material in tensioning along glass fiber is 20 000-40 000 MPa; strength in tensioning along glass fiber, 300-500 MPa. Thickness t of iron ring is 0.01d-0.05d. Core is made of concrete based on expanding binder its self-tension being not less than 2•10-4 Ect/d, where d is outer diameter of iron ring.
