FIELD: laser engineering; lasers used for cutting metals. SUBSTANCE: optical element is, essentially, reflecting diffraction cell that may be used as blind mirror for laser cavity. Optical element is distinguished by high selectivity with respect to radially polarized radiation. Its effective surface is divided into sectors with tops on cavity axis; bars in each sector are formed by straight-line sections parallel to bisector angle of sector. Proposed element provides for enlarged enlarging thickness of metals that may be cut. EFFECT: enlarged metal thickness or enhanced cutting speed. 1 cl, 1 dwg
