FIELD: nuclear power engineering; measuring neutron flux density in neutron-radiating source. SUBSTANCE: for shaping broad-band signal W depending on neutron flux density n use is made of different first and second measuring signals S1 and S2, respectively. S1 and S2 are monotonous functions of neutron flux density n. Within the range of low neutron flux densities n < n1 broad-band signal W equals first measuring signal S1. At low values of neutron flux density n > n2 signal W equals second measuring signal S2. In span (Δ) ranging between n1 and n2 signal W is equated to monotonous function of both measuring signals S1, S2. Measuring signal of ionization chamber, fission chamber, boron chamber, SPN detector, or charged-particle counter is used as measuring signal S1, S2. Device for measuring neutron flux density incorporates evaluation meter. Proposed method and device provide for measuring neutron flux density within wide range from shutdown condition of nuclear power plant to its normal operation.
