CHARGE FORMING METHOD FOR SOLID-PROPELLANT ROCKET ENGINE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: rocket manufacturing. SUBSTANCE: method of forming channel charge for solid-propellant rocket engine connected with "cocoon" - type body comes to filling the body with non-solidified mass of solid propellant with subsequent pressing, polymerizing and cooling with resulting change of pressure in body. Prior to filling the body, special stoppers are installed on flanges of body pole holes, and body is subjected to hydraulic pressure loading with recording of flange displacement depending on pressure. Then body is assembled with process needle for forming charge channel and is filled with fuel mass with subsequent pressing, polymerizing and cooling, and flanges are set in positions found at hydraulic pressure loading. Invention provides method of charge forming at which charge, after disassembly of forming attachments and in process of operation will feature lower stress-deformable state, as compared with charge formed by known method.
