FIELD: optics. SUBSTANCE: proposed binocular system includes collimation lens, splitting prism and two telescopic attachments placed in symmetry with reference to axis of collimation lens. Each attachment has lens, flat mirror and eye-piece. Splitting prism is composed of two rectangular truncated prisms joined by secant planes, secant planes being parallel to output faces of prism. Size of section surface along optical axis of collimation lens satisfies ratio given in formula of invention relating angle of vision field of telescopic attachment, refractive index of material of splitting prism and size of entrance pupil of telescopic attachment in plane of major section of splitting prism. EFFECT: design of light-gathering power binocular system convenient for observation and displaying enlarged vision field, small dimensions and reduced weight. 1 cl, 2 dwg
