FIELD: internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: connecting rod-piston unit makes it feasible to increase center distance of connecting rod without enlargement of dimensions of unit, to diminish angle of swaying of connecting rod and side force. Mass of unit diminishes due to exclusion of mass of piston pin and reduction of masses of piston and connecting rod. Total reduction of mass amounts to 25%. Reinforcement of partition in piston by insertion of cross-piece and reinforcement of cross-piece makes it possible to reduce deformation of piston from tensile forces of inertia which results in possibility of joining piston to connecting rod in formed engines. Upper head of connecting rod-piston unit is manufactured in the form of cup-shaped member cut by width of connecting rod. Inside piston there is located wide partition in which internal hemispheric space is made with side walls on ends of space on one side of partition mounted for contact of side walls with rectilinear cut edge of cup-shaped member within limits of working angle of swaying of connecting rod. Central duct through which rod of connecting rod passes is shut off by cross-piece. Cross-piece connects side walls, opposite sections of piston, raises strength of piston and takes part of tensile forces of inertia of piston. Cross-piece comes in the form of one unit together with piston and is reinforced by steel plate during casting of piston. In another case ring of strong material embracing partition is put on butt of partition of piston. EFFECT: reduced mass of connecting rod-piston unit. 5 dwg
