FIELD: initiation means, in particular, method for excitation of the detonation process in an explosive by an impact of a fragment. SUBSTANCE: the method for initiation of an explosive by the "fragmentation" method consists in installation of a detonator on the explosive to be initiated in a spaced relation, covering of this explosive with an inert spacer; the thickness of detonator charge "h" should be "active" not ;less than its "active" portion ha determined by the following relation: h = rm•ρL•δ1/ρE, where rm - coefficient equal to 2.5; ρL,ρE - density of the material of the cartridge case bottom and the explosive of the detonator charge; δ1 - bottom thickness. The space between the detonator and the spacer external surface is determined by the following relation: δ2 = ha/3, where ha - thickness of the active portion of the detonator charge equal to the calculated thickness of the charge according to the above formula at an equality of relations. A blind hole is provided in the inert spacer and the thickness of the bottom in the blind hole is determined by relation: δ3 = dcr•Pcr/4•τcut, where Pcr - critical pressure for the initiated explosive; dcr - diameter of the hole in the spacer equal to the critical diameter of the initiated explosive; τcut - limit of destruction for a cut of the material of the inert spacer. The spacer thickness is selected within 3 to 4 of thickness δ3 of the bottom of the spacer blind hole. EFFECT: enhanced excitation of detonation process. 1 dwg
