FIELD: test of detonators for initiation capability, and explosives for susceptibility. SUBSTANCE: charge of blasting explosive has a diameter within three critical diameters, it is enclosed in a thick-walled cylinder-shaped shell with a radius providing for shell integrity with a small allowance and length, whose value is determined by a relation, depending on the charge radius, charge substance, charge shell material. The check charge produced in such a way provides for beginning of the spalling phenomenon on the back end of the charge shell; the charge length and spalling frequency serve as a measure for estimation of the detonator initiation capability. If a known detonator and an unknown explosive are taken, the charge length, at which the phenomenon of end spalling occurs, is the measure of estimation of susceptibility of the explosive under test.
