FIELD: physico-chemical means for purification and rendering harmless of liquid media contaminated with toxic or some other objectionable components which are to be removed or transformed into nontoxic substances. SUBSTANCE: method includes passing of liquid through dispersed filter medium with particles sizing 0.1-3.0 mm and, additional electrode cells before and after passage of filter medium. Process of withdrawal of electrolytic and accompanying gases is effected in direction not corresponding to direction of flow of purified liquid. Regeneration stage is performed by combined cleaning of filter medium and electrodes in flow of pulp formed during dispersion of dispersible material in interelectrode zones by a factor of 1.3-3.0. Device for embodiment of claimed method consists of body containing electrodes connected to source of polarizing voltage, filter medium in form of dispersed nonsorbing particles, pipeline system with valves and additional electrode cells installed at inlet and outlet. Two pipelines with flow distributors are mounted in body above and under electrodes. Pipelines are separated from filter medium by protective screen with meshes sizing less than 0.1 mm. Pipelines are provided with T-pieces and valves from opposite side relative to flow distributors for changing over of upper distributor to supply to liquid to be purified or withdrawal of regenerating liquid, and lower distributor, to withdrawal of purified or to supply of regenerating liquid. Installed on body upper cover is gas separating valve. Electrode cell of special types installed at inlet and/or outlet of device are vital members of device which is additionally provided with transducers. Device provides for use of relay systems of automatics.
