FIELD: preparation of high-melting ceramic materials, more particularly component of ceramic and cermet material for manufacturing cutting tools, heat- resistant and heat-conducting members of structures. SUBSTANCE: method comprises burning ultradispersed aluminum oxide powder premixed with aluminum powder of average dispersivity in air, ratios of powders being as follows, wt %: ultradispersed aluminum powder, 5-60; and aluminum powder of average dispersivity, the balance. EFFECT: increased yield of aluminum hydroxynitride and lower manufacturing cost of final product. 1 tbl
