FIELD: water treatment for various industries in need to purify sewage resulting from production activities. SUBSTANCE: method recommends to treat sewage and contaminated water ultrafine dispersed metal powders produced by electric explosion of metals used for these powders. followed by separating sediment thus-formed. Metals to be pulverized are used in form of conductors placed either directly in water to be purified, or above water, or in air/water mixture, followed by exploding conductors. Ratio of energy applied to conductors to sublimation energy of material of these conductors ranges between 0.6 and 1.1 weight of conductors to be exploded being selected so as to be comprised within 50-150 mg per 1 liter of purified water. EFFECT: enhanced water treatment efficiency; lower expenses for purifying water from impurities. 4 tbl
