FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing disinfecting agent by polycondensation of guanidine salt with amines in equimolar ratios during heating operation to prepare polyguanidine. Method comprises purifying optionally polyguanidine from impurities of unreacted initial substances, reprecipitating or exchanging anions using lamination, drying and cooling; polyguanidine is purified in polycondensation stage and polyguanidine melt resulting from drying is cooled by separation of melt into discrete streams in air current and it is thereafter granulated. In this case, amine includes diamines or mixtures thereof with diaminoethers or higher amines. Method makes it possible to prepare disinfecting agent used in medicine and veterinary science, in purifying sewage and also in industries which use biocidal agents in the form of granules.
