FIELD: running of motor vehicles. SUBSTANCE: motor vehicle is fitted with gear measuring average speed which comes in the form of generator of pulses with preset periodicity, computer and storage unit. Output of generator is connected to first input of computer. Second input of computer is connected to device determining instantaneous velocity and its output is linked to indicator of average speed. Average speed is calculated in agreement with relation given in description. EFFECT: design of relatively simple, small-sized and nonexpensive gear determining average speed. 3 dwg
