FIELD: nuclear technology; metering uranium content of fuel pellets based on uranium dioxide. SUBSTANCE: method involves pellet weighing, metering moisture content of pellets, and pellet calcination in oxygen-containing medium to convert uranium dioxide into uranium oxide. Upon repeated weighing of pellets for metering mass of uranium oxide uranium isotope mass proportion w(u) is calculated. Moisture content in lot of pellets is determined by hydrogen content using high-temperature gas extraction method in at least one pellet of lot which is not used in subsequent analyses. Calcination for final oxidation to obtain uranium oxide is made for time calculated from formula given in description of invention.
