FIELD: extraction of copper from waste solutions of electroplating and metallurgical industries. SUBSTANCE: method involves copper deposition (II) with aluminium; washing and drying. Deposition procedure is conducted by means of aluminum preliminarily activated in alkali and having particles equal to or less than 50 microns at pH value of 9.5-13.0 in the presence of agent forming copper complex (II) stable over the range of mentioned pH values with copper: aluminum: agent molar ratio of 1:(1-1.2):(5-10). Method allows copper to be produced from used industrial and aqueous solutions with wide range of copper ion concentration (II), mol/l:10-4 - 10-1 for 6-20 min and at room temperature in the form of metal powder with purity of produced copper of up to 99.9%. Also, method allows content of copper (II) in industrial waste water to be reduced up to maximum permissible concentration. Copper produced by method may be used in powder and nonferrous metallurgy, electroplating etc. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved ecology control. 1 tbl, 7 ex
