FIELD: chemical industry; production of sorbents on base of activated coal. SUBSTANCE: waste is ground in grinding unit 2 of raw material preparation unit 1, then it is dried in drier 3 and directed to proportioning bin 4. Wastes dried to moisture content of 6% are directed to screw mixer 6 by means of screw feeder 5. Simultaneously, reaction additive-halogens, halides of alkali or alkali-earth metals are fed to inlet 7 from reaction additive introducing unit 8. Raw material thus prepared for processing is fed to feeder bin 10 of raw material supply unit 9 then to preheating chambers 21 forming module 20 of preheating unit 15. Raw material preheated to temperature of 150-250 C is fed to carbonization chamber 16 where it is subjected to thermochemical destruction at heating to 600-700 C. Carbonized product is fed to activation chamber 17 and then to aging chamber 18. Activated carbon thus obtained is unloaded from device through sluice gate 35. Chambers 21, 16, 17 and 18 are provided with bladed shafts 23 whose blades 24 are provided with vanes 25 and their angle of inclination gradually changes in way of each chamber thus making it possible to ensure smooth motion of raw material from one chamber to another without forming stagnant zones. Activated carbon possesses high porosity, low bulk density and buoyancy more than 3 months. EFFECT: increased productivity and enhanced reliability. 5 cl, 4 dwg, 1 tbl, 1 ex
