FIELD: electrical and electronic engineering. SUBSTANCE: single-element capacitor noted for high performance characteristics has first and second flat stacks A and B, respectively, built up of alternating electrodes made for arrangement in enclosed capacitor case that has two parts each incorporating only one electrolyte-isolating gasket 154, 156, 158. Each stack is assembled of set of parallel-connected electrodes; electrodes of one stack are alternating with those of other stack to form alternating stack arrangement; electrodes of each stack are electrically connected to respective terminal leads of capacitor. Porous separating sleeve is put on electrodes of one stack (A) before they are alternating with those of other stack so as to prevent short circuit between electrodes. Each electrode is manufactured by bending low-resistance compressible carbon fabric saturated with aluminum and made of activated carbon fibers wound on current-collecting foil; foil contacts of each electrode in each stack are connected in parallel. Then parallel-connected contacts 135, 142 are connected to respective terminal leads of capacitor. Height of stack with alternating electrodes is slightly greater than inner height of capacitor case; that is why stack with alternating electrodes should be compressed when inserted in case so as to keep it under constant low pressure. Enclosed case of capacitor is filled with electrolytic solution and encapsulated. Preferable electrolytic solution is prepared by dissolving salt of adequate grade in acetonitrile (CH3CN). One of alternative designs of capacitor has its case made of conducting material and functions as its terminal leads. EFFECT: enhanced power characteristics of capacitor. 62 cl, 27 dwg, 3 tbl
