FIELD: TV engineering; navigational systems and ship collision preventive systems. SUBSTANCE: ranging system uses contrast ball as observation object; system is also provided with ball diameter analyzer, ball center position indicator, unit consisting of two converters for conversion of coordinates into voltage and servo unit; output of amplitude selector is connected via ball diameter analyzer with third input of computer and input of ball center position indicator whose first and second outputs are connected with first and second inputs of servo unit via coordinate converter unit; servo unit is rigidly connected with TV sensor.
