FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: sphene concentrate is decomposed in the presence of aluminium oxide that is added at amount 8-15% Al2O3 of concentrate weight. Crystallization of titanium-containing product from the liquid phase is carried out by addition of an liquid phase to ammonium sulfate solution up to index of weight ratio of sulfuric acid to ammonium sulfate = 1: (0.4-0.6), and titanium-aluminium product is obtained. Solid residue is treated with milk of lime up to residual aluminium content in solution = 0.5-2.0 g/l (by Al2O3 content). The treated residue is separated and processed by the known method and pigment composition is obtained. Product is used in leather industry, for plastic, paint and varnish and paper manufacture.
