FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: fuel for reactors operated on fast, heat, and intermediate neutrons is prepared by dissolving plutonium dioxide (or plutonium nitrate, or plutonium carbonate, or other soluble plutonium compound) and barium oxide (or barium hydroxide, or barium carbonate) at 1:1 molar ratio (on conversion to oxides) in nitric acid, after which solution is treated with ammonia, alkali, or ammonium carbonate solution to form precipitate, the latter is filtered off and subjected to heat treatment at 1000-1100 C in air. Resulting BaPuO3 powder is briquetted and caked in vacuum at 1400 to 2000 C. EFFECT: facilitated fuel preparation. 3 cl, 2 dwg
