FIELD: production of polyethylene by radical polymerization at high pressure; chemical and petrochemical industries. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in conducting procedure in single-zone autoclave reactor provided with agitating unit; procedure is conducted at elevated temperature and is accompanied by initiating the reaction by organic peroxides at maintenance of difference between minimum magnitude of temperature in upper portion of reactor and maximum magnitude of temperature is its lower portion, within 40 to 70 C; minimum temperature in upper portion of reactor is maintained between 215 and 240 C and in its lower portion maximum temperature is maintained between 260 and 290 C; solutions of organic peroxides are fed to upper and lower portion of reactor; use may be also made of mixtures of organic peroxides having product of constant of rate of decomposition of individual peroxide or additive constant of rate of decomposition of mixture of peroxides during their presence in upper or lower portion of reactor which is equal to 16- 240.
