SURGICAL METHOD FOR CORRECTING MASTOPATOSIS Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves making arc-shaped incision of skin on the anterior surface of the mammary gland at the level of the superior edge of the areola. Epidermal layer is removed from the skin around the papillary areolar complex and downward from the incision to the submammary fold. Skin and fat flap is separated to the second rib level. Carcass is produced from the skin area deprived of epidermis on the mammary gland surface. The carcass is shaped as brassiere. To do it, ribbon-like flaps are cut out from the lateral and medial sides of the mammary gland. The flaps are cut at the level of gland base and separated by 2/3 of their length. The so created carcass is fixed on the lateral and medial side to the musculus pectoralis major and its fascia using distal ends of the flaps and superior edges of the skin area deprived of epidermis. Penetrating skin excision is carried out for new position of the papillary areolar complex to be created. The papillary areolar complex is brought to the window created. The skin and fat flap is stretched to reach the submammary fold. Intradermal sutures are applied in circles around the areola and in horizontal direction along the submammary fold.
