METHOD OF RECOVERY OF PARA-TERT-BUTYL PHENOL FROM REACTION MIXTURE, AND DEVICE FOR CARRYING IT OUT Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: chemical industry, particularly, recovery of alkylphenols from reaction mixtures. SUBSTANCE: method comprises carrying out vacuum rectification of reaction mixture of alkylation of phenol with isobutylene in two columns to separate phenol and ortho-tert butylphenol in both columns in the form of distillate and to take off desired para-tert-butylphenol in liquid form from second column still. Commercial para-tert-butylphenol is recovered in vapor phase at level of 1-8 trays of second column boiler and from still head line of second column along additional pipelines which are connected with additional capacitor. The latter is connected by para-tert-butylphenol condensate drain pipeline with additional collector. Additional capacitor is disposed at barometric height with respect to additional collector and is provided by gas levelling line which connects capacitor with body of second column at level of trays 20-39. EFFECT: preparation of two different commercial products which have different content of para-tert-butylphenol and higher degree of removal of high-boiling impurities from commercial para-tert-butylphenol. 3 cl, 1 dwg
