FIELD: laser engineering; nonlinear optics, environment monitoring, medicine, and the like. SUBSTANCE: method involves insertion of loss in cavity of solid-state laser incorporating light maser pumped with its pulses at origin of pumping pulse. Cavity Q is included as soon as definite inverted population is attained in active element of laser. Level of inserted loss set in the process is sufficient to produce spike oscillation pulse. Cavity Q is inserted after last spike in time interval exceeding length of this spike by at least order of magnitude. Proposed method provides for stabilizing basic parameters of maser radiation pulses. EFFECT: increased maximum permissible values of radiation energy pulses.
