FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fuel filters of internal combustion engines and method of their manufacture. Proposed fuel filter includes intermetallic forming surface for contact with fuel and including tin and antimony with at omic content of tin within 39.5% and 75%. Method of manufacture of fuel filter includes operations for preparation of intermetallic compound to provide surface for contact with fuel. Compound includes tin and antimony with tin content from 39/5% to 75%. Method of filtering or cleaning of fuel comes to brining fuel in contact with intermetallic compound for removing ions from fuel which hamper reaction processes settling them on surface of intermetallic compound which includes tin and antimony. Fuel is passed through porous structure, porosity within 30% and 50%. EFFECT: improved efficiency of fuel cleaning by removing traces of ions of such metals as Ca and Na, reduced contamination of ambient atmosphere. 16 cl, 14 dwg
