FIELD: processes and equipment for cooling gas. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of periodically alternatively joining each tube of bundle of pulsation tubes with source of high-pressure gas; cutting off tube volume; displacing gas to receiver at expanding and cooling gas; discharging gas out of receiver at expanding and cooling it and removing gas while simultaneously cutting off tube for reverse compression of residual gas; expanding gas discharged from tube and cooling it at similar conditions in annular diffuser having uniform section. Pulsation type gas cooler includes housing with high-pressure and low-pressure chambers, bundle of pulsation tubes, receiver and recuperation type heat exchanger. Slide valve of gas distributor includes arranged alternatively inlet and outlet ducts. Low-pressure chamber is in the form of annular diffuser with regular cross section embracing slide valve. Slide valve and housing have at least one pair of coaxial annular protrusion and annular recess combined with formation of clearance. EFFECT: enhanced uniformness of gas cooling. 2 cl, 1 dwg
