FIELD: processes and equipment for cooling gases. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of periodically alternatively joining each tube of bundle of pulsation tubes with source of high-pressure gas; cutting off tube volume; displacing gas to receiver at expanding and cooling it; discharging gas out of receiver at expanding and cooling it while simultaneously cutting off tube and realizing reverse compression of residual gas; providing gas flowing between receivers of pulsation tubes operating in opposite phases. Pulsation type gas cooler includes housing with high-pressure and low-pressure chambers, bundle of pulsation tubes, receiver and recuperation type heat exchanger. Slide valve of gas distributor includes arranged alternatively inlet and outlet ducts. Number of tubes in bundle is multiple to number of ducts of slide valve. Ducts are arranged with regular circumferential pitch. Receivers of tubes are mutually joined in pairs by means of lines having contraction-diffuser end portions turned by their wide sides to receivers and by means of throttle. EFFECT: enhanced adiabatic efficiency. 2 cl, 3 dwg
