FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: styrene is prepared by catalytic dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene in two-stage adiabatic reactor at elevated temperature in presence of water steam, benzene, and toluene at weight ratio ethylbenzene/benzene/toluene/water steam equal to 1/(0.03-0,08)/(0.095-0.22)/(2.26-3.06). Process further includes cooling, condensation of contact gas, separation of aqueous and hydrocarbon phases, separation of styrene, unreacted ethylbenzene, benzene, toluene, and heavy products from hydrocarbon phase. According to invention, benzene and toluene stream is overheated above reaction temperature and fed into reactor by two streams, into first and second stages, at weight ratio of the two streams 1: (3- 6). EFFECT: increased selectivity of process and reduced consumption of steam (power consumption). 1 dwg, 5 ex
