FIELD: medicine, biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to development of agents of vegetable origin designated for prophylaxis of atherosclerosis and decrease of serum blood cholesterol level. Invention proposes the agent for regulation of lipid metabolism that is the oat grains extract obtained by treatment of nonmilled grains with nonpolar extractant followed by separation of the end product and evaporation. Agent has lipid fraction with density value 0.760-0.925 g/cm3 at 20 C, acid number 103.0- 110.0 mg of KOH/g, iodine number 132.0-140.0 and lipid fraction has 57-62% of free fatty acids and 27-32% and 25-29% of free fatty acid esters. Invention proposes also a method of preparing the agent used for regulation of lipid metabolism that involves treatment of nonmilled oat grains with nonpolar extractant in their ratio = (1: 2)-(1: 4) at temperature 40-70 C followed by separation and concentration of the end product. Solvent as nonpolar extractant taken among the following group is used: petroleum ether, hexane, diethyl ether, chloroform. Extraction is performed for 6-12 h and the end product is separated by filtration. Then the end product is concentrated by evaporation. The developed agent is designated for prophylaxis of atherosclerosis and body weight decrease. Every day administration of extract inhibits body mass gain for observation period. The prolonged administration of lipid extract does not result to changes in hemoglobin and erythrocytes content in peripheral blood of rats. In study of blood cells composition in these animals disturbances of leukocyte formula are absent as compared with control. Thus, the prolonged administration of agent does not offer damage effect on hemopoietic system of animals. Agent shows low allergenic activity.
