FIELD: production of composite materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves continuously laying onto movable conveyor of glass fibers containing at least 80 wt% of continuous threads composed of intimately mixed glass monofilaments and monofilaments of thermoplastic organic material, with amount of laid glass filaments making 40 wt% of total amount of material laid in the form of glass fibers, and organic material; transferring this composition of glass fibers and organic material to heating, pressing and cooling zones; carrying out heating and/or cooling processes simultaneously with pressing process; cutting composition into sheets or rolling it onto rotating drum. Method and apparatus allow composite material with increased content of reinforcing filaments to be produced.
