FIELD: electronic engineering; flat-panel displays for personal computers, projection sets, data and advertising panels, etc. SUBSTANCE: device has sealed housing with front optically transparent insulating panel whose inner surface carries a number of parallel anode buses, and autoelectronic emitters placed in insulating substrate that functions as rear panel of housing and is separated from front panel by means of vacuum gap. Each emitter is longitudinally elongated and faces respective anode bus; it has ensemble of emitting parts brought out to flat end surface of emitter used as its emitting surface and positioned along its axis. Butt-end surface of emitter protrudes above substrate surface facing front panel over distance not in excess of that between front and rear panels. This distance is maintained by means of spacer in the form of rectangular-section bosses on side walls of housing provided on either side of panels and rigidly fixed with them. Other surface of substrate carries parallel power buses of emitters each of them being connected to other butt-end surfaces of emitters and positioned so that it intersects anode buses at right angle. Anode buses have depressions in the form of hollows on sections opposing respective emitters. Phosphor layer is deposited onto optical bottom of hollows. Proposed design ensures high luminous efficiency and uniform light distribution throughout image field, high resolving power, and steady characteristics at all points of image.
