FIELD: filtration technology; cleaning various media from mechanical and bacteriological impurities, for example, cleaning milk, water, oils, kerosene, gasoline etc. SUBSTANCE: liquid to be filtered is passed successively through filtering screen and layer of granulated bulk materials; prior to delivery of material to filtering screen it is accelerated through construction of passage area of branch pipe by means of deflector fitted in supply branch pipe and provided with parabolic surface in section which is smoothly engageable with taper surface of screen of screen. Flow being filtered takes form of film flowing tangentially relative to screen; velocity of flow in jet, size of through meshes in screen and size of grains of granulated bulk material are selected experimentally through calculations depending on type of liquid being filtered, type of admixtures and required degree of filtration. Device for realization of this method has housing with upper and lower covers and inlet and outlet branch pipes with pipe unions. Coarse screen made in form of truncated cone is mounted inside housing in its upper chamber; this screen is provided with deflector having parabolic surface in section which is smoothly engageable with screen. Fine filtering section is located under coarse screen. Fine section includes supporting screen of inverted conicity on which grain filtering material - change is located. Between coarse screen and charge layer there is free space for forming pseudo-boiling in the course of filter regeneration. Deflector with parabolic surface is mounted in center of supporting screen from below. Lower chamber for receiving the condensate is located between supporting screen and lower cover of device. Filtering granulated bulk material - change is just porous medium made from synthetic corundum, for example with size of grains of main fraction from 0.1 to 2.0 mm.
