FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: cleaning of natural gas involves: countercurrent contact thereof with water-immiscible liquid organic absorbent at elevated pressure, regeneration of loaded absorbent by treatment thereof with water-alkali solution of ferric complexonate, recovery of regenerated absorbent through settling, recycle of absorbent into gas-treatment stage, air blowing-mediated regeneration of exhausted ferric complexonate solution, filtration or centrifugation separation of formed elementary sulfur, and return of regenerated ferric complexonate solution into loaded absorbent regeneration stage. Simultaneously, gas can be freed from optionally present mercaptans. EFFECT: enhanced gas treatment efficiency. 4 ex _
