DISK-TYPE SWIVEL GATE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: shut-off and adjusting fittings for pipe lines; mining and concentrating, chemical, oil and other industries; power engineering. SUBSTANCE: disk-type swivel gate has metal body; shut-off member mounted in body on swivel shaft; shut-off member is made in form of metal disk which is rubberized over entire surface; modulus of elasticity of rubber is E_d; seat arranged in body is made from rubber at modulus of elasticity E_s. Modulus of elasticity of disk is larger than that of seat. Seat is mounted in body forming circular cavity between body and seat. This cavity is formed by groove found on inner surface of body; this groove has form of segment in cross section at length of chord "C" greater or equal to width "B" of body of gate, C≤B at radius R_s of segment equal to R_s = (D_у+2δ)/[2cos(α)2)] and central angle α equal to α = 2 • arctg[C/(D_у+2δ)], where B is width of gate body; C is length of chord; D_у is nominal bore of gate; δ is thickness of rubber seat wall; α is central of segment; R_s is radius of segment; thus parameters of groove and circular cavity may be optimized. Body has through hole for communication of circular cavity with surrounding medium. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and durability; extended field of application. 3 dwg
