FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: needle has short and long parts, bar, shaped protrusion, profiled hook, slot on long part of needle and protrusion on short part of needle mating the slot on long part. Tips of hooks on both parts of needle have single-sided sharpened portion and curved portion. Shaped rod with single-sided sharpened portion has width equal to that of hook. Slot and rectangular protrusion on short and long parts of needle extend to shaped protrusion. Method involves providing working of all the needles of the same bar to form one and other layers on flat double-rib knit fabric machine. EFFECT: enhanced reliability in operation, simplified needle manufacture process and increased efficiency. 3 cl, 2 dwg
